Alvvays will drop their highly anticipated sophomore album in under a month, and today the Toronto-based group are giving us another taste of new music with the infectious “Plimsoll Punks“. The song is the band’s answer to Television Personalities‘ “Part-Time Punks” and a winking surf opus indictment of the self-righteous who intend to condescend. You can check out the new track below.
The previously released tracks “In Undertow” and “Dreams Tonite” show a band on the brink of releasing their best material yet. Pitchfork notes on “Dreams Tonite” that the “new sound nods to the Chromatics and Beach House, touching upon their moody temperament while fleshing out their emotional explorations.” Rolling Stone praised “In Undertow” in their Playlist section, writing “Canadian guitar romantics Alvvays mix pleasant noises and chill dejection, and the result is a perfect indie-rock lullaby.“
