It was always going to be a hard pull to get bodies through the door in Auckland when there was at least two other international acts playing elsewhere in the city, but the crowd size at this show not only ensured that the gig was small and intimate, but provided plenty of room to move around to shoot the show. Unfortunately, for the first time in my concert shooting life, someone took offense at me being there and spent the first two songs pushing me around, violently throwing themselves into me, holding their hand in front of the camera and generally just being a drunken idiot. This is the sort of behavior I’d expect at a jock-metal show, but certainly not at a Trail of Dead gig! Luckily, the show was amazing and I managed to get some great shots after all – so that’s a win in my book!
