Elemeno P announce NZ tour

Elemeno PIconic kiwi rock group, Elemeno P are excited to hit the road on their upcoming 7 date New Zealand Spring tour – their most extensive run of regional dates in over a decade! As one of Aotearoa’s quintessential rock groups, the much-loved five piece will ring in the warmer climates with fans from all across the country as they revisit the classics (and the deep cuts) for a special set of shows not to be missed.

“We haven’t played some of these towns in so long, pretty sure it’s been over a decade. Can’t wait to visit these beautiful places again. New Plymouth is where I got pregnant with my first born, Napier is where Justyn threw our guitar tech in the pool, and The Mount is where we wrote 11:57. So many memories and poignant moments,” bassist Lani Purkis reminises.

Drummer Scotty Pearson grew up in Taranaki and is looking forward to revisiting his home turf once again. “The Naki is where I learned to play the drums, joined my first band, had my first kiss and played my first show. It’s a part of who I am, Taranaki Hardcore for life!”

Lead singer David Gibson and guitarist Justyn Pilbrow have been based out of the United States for the past few years. Gibson is looking forward to bringing his newly-born son home, with wife Sarah (the reason for the band’s classic hit ‘Verona’). “He may have an American passport but he has kiwi blood and I want him to feel the wind of Wellington from a young age.”

Press Release:

Elemeno P are responsible for writing some of our favourite kiwi anthems such as ‘Fast Times in Tahoe’, ‘Verona’, ‘Nirvana’, ‘Urban Getaway’ and more. The group’s debut album Love & Disrespect took flight in July 2002, hitting #1 on the NZ Album chart on release, and saw triple platinum album status; solidifying its place as a “classic kiwi album” on the shelves of almost every home from Cape Reinga to Gore.

The band’s striking 2005 follow up Trouble in Paradise, introduced New Zealand to more power-infused hits such as ‘11:57’ and ‘One Left Standing’. The album entered the NZ Album chart at #2 and went on to reach platinum status, like its predecessor. Following the success of the record, Elemeno P picked up Best Group at the 2006 NZ Music Awards and by this point had become a household name. This was followed by their self-titled album which peaked at #3 on the NZ Album chart in 2008 before the band took some timeout to focus on various solo projects. It carried their biggest live hit ‘Baby Come On’ and some of their b-side fan favourites like ‘Beverly Laurel’ and ‘Anna Don’t Let Go’.

In March 2017, the band regrouped for a one-off set at Jim Beam Homegrown, which saw a packed crowd that spanned generations (and miles) showing their remaining connection to kiwi fans of all ages. This was followed by a handful of sold out shows on the side, and in December, they joined the Jordan Luck Band on the road for a run of NZ dates, before helping lay the iconic Kings Arms to rest on its final Saturday in business.

Elemeno P are Dave Gibson, Lani Purkis, Scotty Pearson and Justyn Pilbrow, who are joined live and in studio by long-time musical wingman, Godfrey de Grut.
