Good Riddance & Versus The World
6th August 2015
Galatos, Auckland, New Zealand
I spent weeks being really excited at the prospect of shooting this concert. I spent a large portion of my youth listening to a lot of so-cal pop punk, of which Good Riddance (as well as individual members of Versus The World in their other bands) played a big part of. I turned up to the club to shoot and my heart sank – there was no lighting rig whatsoever, just regular halogen house lights above the stage. To make matters worse when the bands hit the stage the audience was plunged into darkness, along with about a quarter of the stage. Long story short – I knew I was going to have a worse than tough time so just went with it. I ignored everything I knew and just shot how I did when I first started out – main aim, have fun! By the end of the night I had had a great time, and somehow also managed to shoot the images you see below. Success!
Equipment: Canon EOS 1DMkIIN; Canon EF 50mm f1.2L, Sigma EX 20mm f1.8
