Nadia Reid to embark on Opera House & Theatre Tour

Nadia Reid and her band have today confirmed a whistle stop seven date only nationwide tour of Aotearoa before completing the recording of album number four.

Off the back of the highly successful 2020 album ‘Out of My Province’ and its covid- discombobulated release tour, followed by the sell out twenty date ‘Reid & Ruins’ travelling roadshow with Hollie Fullbrook (Tiny Ruins), Nadia Reid is relishing the thought of presenting her full catalogue (plus some brand new gems) at some of her favourite venues in Aotearoa this May.

Nadia reveals, “It’s been my dream to tour the beautiful theatres and opera houses of Aotearoa for as long as I can remember. I’m so grateful to have been able to release my record Out of My Province the way I did, even through a world pandemic.

In all the craziness and intensity of 2020, it made me grow even closer to music and feel more and more how important writing and performing are to me as a person.

I’m very excited to present these big band shows and anticipate it being the last tour I do in 2021 before I finish my 4th album.”

Press Release:

In March of 2020, Reid released her third full-length album Out of My Province’ via her own label Slow Time Records in New Zealand and U.S. based Spacebomb for the rest of the world. Performing a handful of release shows just prior to the March lockdown meant there was a brief moment to celebrate the release. The Line of Best Fit declared it Reid’s “most polished album to date” with Uncut calling it “her best album yet”, awarding it 8/10. Due to COVID-19 disruptions, Reid and her band headed into a Dunedin recording studio at Chicks Hotel in early 2021 to begin work on album 4. Their May ‘Opera House & Theatre Tour’ will showcase Nadia’s exceptional body of musical works, as well as have a sneak preview of some of her new creations before signing off to work on finishing her fourth studio album due late 2022.

Nadia Reid is praised the world over for her intimate, complex songwriting. She is described by The Guardian (UK) as ‘an understated, wise guide through uncertain territory’, while her lyrics are called ‘allegorical…brutally honest’ by The Revue. What brings Reid’s lyrics to life is her unique voice and accompanying soundscapes that seem to at once evoke the rugged beaches and mountains of Aotearoa, the Port Chalmers harbour of her home, and the roaming, open territory of the road.
