New Zealand writer, vegetarian, youth leader, feminist, charity boxer, product of a childhood of governmental institutions, living canvas, podcaster and rapper Louie Knuxx; has had more troubles than you’ve had hot dinners kid. Thankfully for the NZ hip hop scene, Louie Knuxx has been putting pressure to pain and spitting it into verses and hooks for us to enjoy for over a decade.

Coming straight out of New Plymouth, Louie Knuxx is one of the die-hards that diligently works away at his craft and body of work, humbly achieving exquisite pieces that speak about his youth and experiences, relationships, some of the most sensual romance raps you’ll have the pleasure to blush to and commentary on just about anything that’s worth highlighting. Louie Knuxx’s relaxed, gravelly yet smooth delivery glides beautifully over dreamy smoked out beats.

Worlds apart from his 2006 album Wasted Youth, Louie Knuxx is back living in the provinces after time spent living over the ditch and collaborating with hardcore band Deez Nuts and on hip hop side project Grips n Tonic with Deez Nuts founder/frontman J.J. Peters. Through this, Louie Knuxx jetted off to European with his boys to experience giving his music to audiences on the other side of the globe. More recently, Louie Knuxx has been broadcasting podcast ‘How not to be an Asshole‘, along with Dominic Hoey aka Tourettes and Dan Mawby. Where “every week our heroes will be interviewing people more interesting than themselves, asking the questions over looked by the glorified gossip circle we call a media.”

2016 Louie Knuxx album Tiny Warm Hearts featuring the achingly beautiful Mercury Plaza and the cheeky Body, showcases a more mature, discerning gentleman thug who wants no more than to share his music, have people hear it, download and listen to it for free, or tell their mates about it and urge them to check it out too.

This profile is a part of our NZ Music Month coverage, celebrating new and upcoming Kiwi artists. For more information on Louie Knuxx you can visit his Bandcamp, or follow him on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Soundcloud. For more information on NZ Music Month you can visit their website.
