The NZ Music Month Daily Playlist Challenge
25th May, 2018
Compiled by Jesse Sorenson / His Masters Voice – The Devil’s Blues.
Anyone who has heard Jesse Sorenson’s voice once never forgets its rich, soulful tones that feel as if they came straight from the depths of the southern states themselves.
As lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of His Masters Voice – The Devil’s Blues, Jesse has studied the masters for most of his life; artists such as B.B. King resonating deeply with this talented musician. Spending his days in the music department of JB Hi-Fi also means that his depth of knowledge is more than quite enviable, Jesse a true believer of musical diversity.
No stranger to the live stage either, His Masters Voice have played many of New Zealand’s iconic venues including the (terribly missed) Kings Arms, Auckland’s Powerstation (supporting both Canadian band Sumo Cyco and New Zealand’s own Devilskin) and tomorrow night they will be gracing the boards of Galatos in support of Skinny Hobo’s – who they will also be joining on tour.
Humble to a fault and with a smile that melts the hearts of many of the fairer sex, Jesse has put together a playlist that truly embraces some of New Zealand’s most formative musicians.
As Jesse would say “Music is my mistress and she plays second fiddle to none.”
