The NZ Music Month Daily Playlist Challenge
29th May, 2018
Compiled by Charlie Smith & Kyle Wetton / Dead Favours.
Well it’s the final week of New Zealand Music Month so we have to bring you just a little something special now don’t we? Today it’s a ‘Two for Tuesday’ from two of the members of Auckland based rock band Dead Favours.
Despite having only formed just two years ago in 2016, Dead Favours have made their mark on the scene already with hit singles ‘High Flying’, ‘Better The Weather’ and of course ‘Dig’ produced by Shihad’s Tom Larkin which spent an astounding twenty-seven weeks in the charts! These kick ass tracks and killer on stage presence have led Dead Favours to already support some hefty international bands such as Rise Against and Royal Blood.
Charlie Smith is the percussion powerhouse of Dead Favours, making his presence well and truly felt from behind the drum kit. Having worked extensively around the New Zealand music and event industry (both as an employee and freelancer) Charlie brings with him a wealth of knowledge. Charlie currently works for Loop and states that he “loves getting to work with some very cool artists on both the touring and event side of things.”
Born in Johannesburg, Kyle Wetton started playing guitar at just thirteen years of age. Having moved to New Zealand he studied music at Waikato Institute of Technology before joining his first band called Eqwanox. Since then he has played for Fire at Will, Bloodnut, This Pale Fire, and Stonedogs before becoming the lead shredder in Dead Favours. When not doing all things band related, Kyle works full time as a Photoshop artist and digital developer stating that he “enjoys programming stuff and can often be seen messing around with Raspberry Pi’s and homebrew mobile apps.”
So wrap your ears around today’s epic 36 tracks of goodness and make sure you check out Dead Favours (if you haven’t already) today!
