About the acts:
ICEHOUSE
ICEHOUSE has just celebrated touring for over 40 years, and are one of Australia’s most iconic bands, transcending age groups with their hit songs, well known and loved by audiences across countries and generations. ICEHOUSE was formed by Iva Davies, the band’s frontman and musical creative force, who lead the band to an amazing 28x Platinum albums, eight Top 10 albums and over thirty Top 40 singles, including ‘Great Southern Land’, ‘Hey Little Girl’, ‘Crazy’, ‘Electric Blue’, ‘My Obsession’.
Midge Ure
Live Aid co-founder and Ultravox frontman, Midge Ure, is in demand worldwide for his dynamic live band show covering amazing career highlights (songs from Ultravox, Visage, and solo years). Midge Ure fondly recalls Ultravox’ exhilarating show in New Zealand headlining Sweetwaters in the ’80s. With their hit album ‘Vienna’ being in the NZ Top 40 for over 47 weeks, concert goers are in for a treat, with Midge and band bringing ‘The 1980 show’ – an awesome combination of the Vienna album in its entirety, plus Visage classics, and a surprise or two.
10CC
When your songbook contains ‘Dreadlock Holiday’, ‘The Things We Do For Love’, ‘I’m Not In Love’, ‘Art For Art’s Sake’, ‘Rubber Bullets’, and many more – it’s no surprise that 10cc shows around the world continue to sell out in record time. Frontman Graham Gouldman promises: “This is as near as you’re ever going to get to hearing the perfect 10cc. Hit after hit after hit. It’s relentless. We show no mercy.”
Jan Hellriegel
This year Jan Hellriegel has released to critical acclaim Sportsman Of The Year – A Suburban Philosophy, her 4th studio album, with a beautifully produced book based on the stunning new collection of songs. Hellriegel’s debut solo album in 1992 included chart-topper ‘The Way I Feel’ and ‘It’s My Sin’, the first steps in an inspiring career. Sought after in the live arena, she has also opened for David Byrne, The Cure, Jeff Buckley, to name a few.
Mockers
Their anthems ‘Forever Tuesday Morning’, ‘Swear It’s True’, ‘One Black Friday’, ‘My Girl Thinks She’s Cleopatra’ still stand up to a good thrashing on the turntable, a remarkable 30 years later. But it’s live on stage where they really shine, and Mockers originals Andrew Fagan, Brett Adams, Tim Wedde and Geoff Hayden will make it a night for fans to remember.
The Narcs
If you were to look at the New Zealand music charts anytime in the mid-1980s Kiwi band The Narcs were consistently riding high. In the golden age of touring bands, The Narcs filled pubs and concert halls, opened for overseas acts like Queen and Elton John, toured relentlessly up and down New Zealand and across Australia. In 1984 they were awarded four NZ music awards on the back of the release of their debut album The Great Divide and the single ‘(You Took Me) Heart and Soul’. Look forward to Narcs classics like ‘Lazy Susan’, ‘Diamonds on China’ and ‘No Turning Back’.
