Illusive Presents and Frontier Touring are delighted to welcome Playboi Carti to New Zealand for the very first time this March June. Young Carti will be stopping by Auckland to deliver his chart busting tracks from his self-titled 2017 debut mixtape, out now worldwide on AWGE/Interscope Records.
No stranger to performing live, Carti recently sold out his debut headlining tour, including shows in New York, LA, Atlanta and London. Vevo dropped into the first of two sold out nights in London to capture him perform ‘Magonolia’ and ‘wokeuplikethis*’ to a crowd that knew every single word.
As these shows are new dates after Playboi Carti postponed due to exhaustion, all existing ticketholders need not to take action as original purchases are valid for entry at all rescheduled shows. If the new dates are not suitable, rest assured ticketholders will be able to secure a refund.

Press Release:
Released on April 14, Playboi Carti debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200 charts. The mixtape features Carti’s two hit singles ‘Magnolia’ and ‘wokeuplikethis*’ both of which embody the 22-year-old rapper’s experimental but hook-heavy sound. The songs spent the summer simultaneously climbing the Billboard 100 chart and Spotify’s RapCaviar playlist, as Carti performed at festivals across North America and Europe, solidifying his place at the forefront of today’s breakout hip-hop artists.
Within a month of its release, ‘Magnolia’ went viral, amassing over 63 million streams on Spotify (currently stands at 168 million.) Featuring Philadelphia rapper Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti’s follow-up track “wokeuplikethis*” has garnered over 102 million Spotify streams.
Playboi Carti’s breakout hit ‘Broke Boi’ arrived in spring 2015, around the same time that Playboi Carti made his debut at SXSW and ended up crossing paths with A$AP Rocky. Shortly afterwards, Playboi Carti relocated to the Bronx to begin work on his debut project.
Now based in his hometown of Atlanta, Playboi Carti has also won recognition within the fashion world. Along with landing features in GQ, Vogue and W Magazine, he holds the distinction of being the only rapper to feature in Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 5 show at New York Fashion Week in February of this year. This month he was featured as the music callout in Forbes’ annual 30 Under 30 list.
‘Gunning for the song of the summer’ – Pitchfork on ‘Magnolia’
‘One of the Internet’s most buzzed-about new hip-hop artists’ – Rolling Stone

The international hype surrounding Playboi Carti is very much real right now. New Zealand fans are encouraged to act quickly to avoid disappointment.
