Shihad
15th December 2015
Western Springs Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand
I have been a Shihad fan for a very long time now, almost longer than any other band I get excited about on a regular basis. I remember seeing them at one of the earlier Big Day Out music festivals and have been a firm fan ever since. In my time as a concert photographer I have been lucky enough to shoot them a few times, but this time (as support for AC/DC) was a whole other level. Shihad were not only on form, but were doing what they do best – huge stadium styled rock songs in a huge stadium in front of sixty thousand people. There was a moment when I was standing backstage watching them perform ‘Pacifier’ the sun getting low in the horizon and nearly every person of that sixty thousand strong crowd had their hands in the air waving along… It just doesn’t get much better than that at a gig. Shihad, thank you so much for still rocking after all these years – I certainly can’t wait until I can witness your next show!
